I've been offered one for £60.
Does anyone have any experience of using one, or any knowledge/opinion on how good or not it will be.
Daze - this could be one for u! Mr. Hardware User!

Cheers Sol, sounds like a nice inexpensive piece of kit.
Going over to check it out this aft. and hear the results.
Just wanted some info. as ammo b4 I parted with £'s.
How do you utilise yours?
I'm looking at soundcard line out to compressor to soundcard line in - just for light mix compression, but will probably look into recording each necessary individual track.
It's all new to me this hardware bizniz!

wont that give very high latency?

used one of those when i worked at spirit - tidy little unit [probably slightly better build quality than the composer] and a few more features if memory serves [better gateing].

just check everything works.

does your sound card have jack outs?

could be some noise issues if you mess around with farty minijacks - latency wont be affected though :D

Thanx for the insights - I was lucky enough to give it a run the other day at a mates (he got tha necessary leads!) tried a few things - overall mix comp, bassline comp...sounded pretty good and like you say daze the gating feature seemed to be a fairly strong feature.
The most noticeable difference I picked up was that when we set it to a low ratio to compress the overall mix the mid-range of the output seemed significantly warmer and defined to without as well as a general punchyness about the output.
We used Reason as our source for test.
I think I might go for it even if it just means being limited at the moment to just compressing the overall mix - 'cause the difference is so much better than without and sounds piles better.
Just need to get a new soundcard, mixing desk, etc. etc. lol!!!!!

yup, a bit of mild compression on the mix can work wonders. usually a 3:1 ratio and threshold to give you between 4/6 db of gain reduction does the trick with a shortish attack and longer release. but hey, there are no rules!! ;) ;)
