View Full Version : I want.........
A midi Keyboard. I don't really want to go out and spend a fortune on a keyboard when i'm not sure if i'll use it enough to justify the price tag. So if anyone has one going cheap then give me a shout.

check loot mate, try to get a simple on but with as many keys as possible so you can get all the sounds rockin :slayer:
I was looking at a few the other day. What's the difference between a 25 key one and a 49 key one (in simple terms)?

in simple terms...one has 25 keys and one has 49 :D
as far as i know its best to get one with as many keys as possible so you can have the midi sounds on each key...less keys, less controllable sounds
ask daze though mate, he used to teach midi stuff i think
Nice one for the thorough advice Woody
Would anybody else in the know care to add to that??
The 24 key one will be erm X amount of octaves and the 49 will X more octaves.
Thing is though that on a midi keyboard u can generally "shift" the octave down one by pressing a button.
Woody's right about less samples to trigger but i've never once used over 25 samples on a single midi channel. 10 at the most.
Get the 25 key one.
Nice one Sol.
Just been on E-bay (for the first time) and found a Roland PC-180A and I put a bid in for £10!!! (Big Spender!!) Don't really trust E-bay tbh. i am far too sceptical for stuff like that!

yeah what he said!
i can't really remember to be honest, ive not used cubase for about 2 years so i'm a bit rusty to say the least.
you can still trigger the samples with the mouse anyway so it's not super important i guess...guess being the operative word there :laff:

Was lookin at some myself over the w/e ... The new P.C World near us have a few in; ranging from big'n'pricey to smaller'n'cheaper (£40 I think).
Didn't count or notice how many keys they had though, and I don't know if they're any good cos I know fook all bout that kinda thing!
Adam - yeah I was there the other day looking at the Evolution ones, which are supposed to be pretty good. But they had a Roland tag on the shelf for £49.99. I aksed them to check if they had any and their till said they had 7 in stock. 30 minutes later with four memebers of staff looking they still coudn't figure out where they were - thats PC World for you!!
