I'm after some pre-amped speakers; bout 40-60w per chan - But all the ones I've seen are well pricey.
Anyone know where I can find good priced ones?

Erm ... I mean the ones that have their own mains supply and bass/tone controls kinda thing -- Yknow, the ones that don't need to be connected to a stereo or amp; they be plugged straight into the decks?
If u say Pre-amp then u mean a pair of speakers that require an amp to work. That would be passive.
I think u mean powered / Active.
I've got the Passive versions of these . . .

and they are very good
:D
Adam, I think the term you're after is active speaker.
Yeah, they're well dear! :p

Heh heh yeh that's what I meant (scuse my ignorance; but I don't really know much bout these things!)
I was jus wondering if anyone knew anywhere that did em cheaper/ish.
Prices I've seen are like £125 just for 2 x 20watts (Sapphires)
But if they're all round bout that price I might aswell get hold of a 2nd hand stereo to hook the decks up to ...

@ woody -- Cos in our house the decks are in a room upstairs -- and the stereo sys is downstairs ... so I either have to use active speakers or get another stereo, or amp n speakers just to plug the decks into ...
And like ØmniKut said: the amp matches the speakers perfectly cos it's built in - so you actually get good sound n performance (hell I might not know what they're called -- but I know that much! heh heh)

not for home use though.
for a budget price the speakers and amps will not be matched correctly which will just fuck the sound up.
maybe they work at pro level but thats not really the issue here.
and i think most active speaker systems are run as part of a full set up with an amp and pasive speakers aswell, so they dont just control the whole sound.
so there.

I already have some active speakers which I use for home use; on their own and with no amp or passive speakers -- and they're fine, and the sound's decent.
I just want some bigger ones! -- But like I said; I'm only finding high prices on em -- so returning to the original question ...
Anyone know anywhere that does em at a good / reasonable / nice 'n' cheap price?
Adam - You'll be hard pressed to find a cheap pair of decent sized actives, as the ones you'll find will most likely be for pro-level near/midfield studio monitoring. Those HHB ones for example, with the're 'ruler fault' frequency response. Absolutely goregous but they cost a fortune.
Get yourself a decent amp and some cerwin vegas or summat, probably work out cheaper!

Try the behringer truth moniters I hear they are quite good cheap active moniters.
