I'm looking to invest in some new cartridges / styli for my decks.
I'm currently using Ortofon OM carts with the PRO S styli, these are what came with my Vestax PDX 2000's. I'm not fussed about scratching performance specifically, altho a sturdy cart is obviously a benefit. What i really want is sound quality. What should I go for?
I dont think i'll stray from Ortofon carts, they've impressed me so far. I've been on www.ortofon.com and it seems that they do 3 types, Moving Magnet, Moving Coil and Disco. Now it says the moving coil ones produce better sound, but i've always seen people playing out with the Disco series, (concorde or regular), so are these moving magnet or moving coil? (the moving coil ones seem to be short and fat, magnet seem to be more long/thin). Now do these Disco (long and thin) get used for playing out, because they are more stable, whereas the Moving Coil ones will sound better?
Can someone help me out here? :)
