i don't mix or play dnb out, but i do put a mean eclectic hip hop/funk/beats/house style mix tape together for those mo stoned moments of chill - and when your ears are bleedin from them ferocious underground beats!!!!!

1) would anyone be interested in me posting em up somehow for you lot ( i appreciate this is a site for hardcore dnb heads so thought i'd check the interest!!!)

and more importantly

2) how can i post it up on this site for people to download rather than the hassle of people e-mailing me and me posting em out?

:hatpimp:

Id be interested in putting up some chilled mixes for people to download.

Mail some over to us and I'll make sure they get on the site.

The address is on the main site under dnb mixes.

will sort out asap and mail to you

i have some free time this weekend (hallelujah) so will get on it and sort you boys something to chill to

call me stupid but..................

how do i mail it to you - do i just save the wav file as a winzip file and attach it?

i'm slightly technophobic i'm afraid!!

let me know and it will be with you by monday (ish!)

Sol if u want i can put em up, save you uploading with your modem! Then we can put up some high quality copies too :)

But if they're tapes? My lack of a tape deck would probably be a major setback. :o

Ive got a tape deck hooked to my PC with loadsa nice restoration plug ins to make it sound crisp. I actually love doin stuff like that!

And ive got broadband

Ill do it if you want.

right

got the postal address - couldn't see it at first!

what format would be easier for you - i can do Minidisc or tape, or save it as a wav file and e-mail it if you tell me how to

what would you prefer

poi

No CD burner? :D

Arsta Far-I
10-01-2003, 03:08 PM
nope - no cd burner

its taken me foookin long enough to get a shitty pc with reason runnin on it - giv me a chance!

puttin liquidrum on in manc last year cost me a whole shitload of money

and i don't have money at the best of times - i swap it regularly for the other green stuff if you get me!!

the md/tape/wav file(or however i could e-mail it) are all options that mean i will actually send it to you this weekend, if i start trying to hassle mates to get a cd burned we'll still be waiting next year!

unless you have any other suggestions

Picked up an excellent, totally laid-back, heavy-bassed, pure-smokin-choons mini LP the other week :toke:

"Roots of Dub Funk" on Tanty Records :hatpimp:

I think it's fuckin great; but ask Asok or Amos Keato what they thought of it for independent opinions -- if it's arrived thru their letter boxes yet that is!

Also essential listening for everyone is the xxx% Dynamite LPs, think its upto 500% now or summat. The reggae cover of James Brown - Make It Funky is pure genius!

Cos my dads into a lot of it, I get to hear a lot of ska and reggae, theres loads of wicked stuff and there are some brilliant sampling opportunities too! Theres a tune i really like as well called 'double barrel', classic reggae /ska tune and has the bassline that the freestylers used for 'b-boy stance'.

Mark Lamaars 'beginners guide to reggae' on radio 2 always makes for good listening too! Every wednesday 9:00-10:00. He interviews loads of fucked up rastas too, includin coxone dodd and lee 'scratch' perry!

It's all good

Yeah man, im pretty sure any old island promos would fetch top dolla these days, hold on to it! And as for the hand written label, that's wicked!

You never know, it might be worth as much as my 7" copy of al capone...

You see people, what we are doing in d&b now they were doin with reggae 30 years ago. Cutting tunes onto dubplates to play in clubs and all that.

It's all good

My dad IS the reggae don!

Also check out the Jamaican Riddim Directory :hatpimp:

http://www.jamrid.com/

Massive selection of new, recent, and old-skool reggae, ragga n dub.
Info / biog for each tune on the directory & this really cool lil interactive applet, that lets ya sample propa reggae MC phrases over the tune as it plays

"Comenow!"

"Wheeeelout!"

Only bummer is that ycant actually download the tunes off the site -- just play em; But it's well worth checkin out if you're into yer reggae / ragga / dub at all

@Adam -

jamrid is a great site - you can cross reference riddims and tunes that use them etc to track down different versions and so on

and also a place where you can see where i got the name stalag -
stalag17, the greatest riddim (although the riddim itself is named after the stalag concentration camps in WW2....as if anyone gave a shit) :dj:

@OmniKut

oh fair enough - i know the tune - i'm still talking about reggae though - dennis al capone is a deejay (like U-Roy, I-Roy, Prince Far I etc).....and in fact the album i mentioned above (Guns dont Argue), Prince Buster says that @ the start of al capone

"Guns dont haaargue!.....dont call me scar-face, my name is capone!" (or something like that).

*screeching cars*

Dum *chkka**chkka**chkka**chkka* Dum *chkka**chkka*... etc.
