Need help quick!

Right, I got a second hand G4 tower the other day. I've also got amongst other programs a copy of Reason but it won't install cos I ain't got OS 9.0.4 or higher (so the on screen message says). I've apparently got OS 9.
Is mine the standard operating sytem and shouldn't Reason run on it? Everything else works, Cubase etc.
Am I gonna have to get an upgrade?
Are these stupid questions??? I've only just started to use a mac so don't know much!

I dont know the first thing about macs, but i just read this
http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/0004/10.upgrade.shtml tells you about the differences going from OS9 to OS9.0.4.

Also seems there is a free upgrade available! 12mb download or so. Check here..
