At last a tune I might be able to comment on.

Right – first things first – I really like it :thumbs: . It’s a nice roller, nothing amazing but would definitely fit into a set. I think you should get rid of that ride cymbal that you use in every single tune you’ve ever made ever. I know its there for mixing with, but you don’t hear it on every other drum and bass tune out, just all yours….maybe try it without once. I apologize if it has to be there and I don’t know what I'm on about production wise, it’s just my thoughts on it.

Second – the second drop makes the tune sound punchier a little…I don’t know why….do you add another element? I think it just needs maybe a little bit more of a hook on it to get you really involved. That guitar lick is nice, but after repeating for so long it doesn’t really grab you in anymore….and the vocal could maybe be a little louder. I don’t think that would ruin the smooth or subtle effect you’re going for.

Last thing – the title. I got all excited when I read the title thinking that you’d actually ripped some northern soul ideas/samples/elements…anything off for the track. The was gutted when I realized you just liked the name, and it has nothing at all to do with northern soul whatsoever. Why not try doing a track that does use some northern soul bits…and calling that northern soul….you know what I mean? Roots an all that….

On the whole though its defo the best track in this sound that you’ve done – better that what could we do, and just shows how far your coming along. I think that with one or two more smooth productions like this, you’ll do something right special.

i like the track as well, but the kick in the WMA sounds a bit too crispy... it would punch out thru whatever track was in the mix before it (and I like smoooooth transitions)

also... the vocal snippet is just a bit over-repetative for my taste

remember, less is more. i'd rather have people crave for more vocals than lose their attention if they're bombarded with it

Nice easy roller this one. real keen on that vox sample too.
not sure if there's a slight key clash between the rhodes style piano, the sweeping pad and the guitar loop, but only on the 3rd bar of the whole loop??

Cheers for the feedback guys, its only a rough mix down, and it isnt 100% finished yet so will defo take some of your thoughts into account when we go back in on it. Stu the name is only something we stuck on cos we couldnt think of a name to save the tune as in Cubase:D

this sounds more like you guys, nice intro, i have only just reviewed bad brain, never touched any of the levels, but the breaks are so much louder in this one, no problem handling them, it's just louder than the other one. feeling the guitar (:guitar:) it's ok. not my cup of T. i can see it rocking other peoples boats tho. no problems in the arrangement, use of fx etc. i might just turn the breaks down sightly. :)

i like the drums loud, kinda puts the synth and rodes in the background and makes it more moody. the vocal grew on me
