Accoustics what the Fuck!!!!!!!!

Alright Jungalists,
Am trying to set up a studio in my house but i was wondering just how important accoustics are,do you really need Bass traps and accoustic pannels to get a decent mix.
My heads mashed with all this shit.If anyone can shed some light on this subject please reply

acoustics are pretty important, but you dont have to go crazy trying to get a perfect sound, just do simple things like avoid square rooms, dont put your speakers too close to the wall and NOT in the corners of the room..hang up some curtains and drapes to deaden any reflections..dont sit too near the back wall to listen to your mixes.. spend cash on decent cables. speakers and an amp.
