Not strictly true Adam - I was talking to someone the other day who informed me that Grooverider has played the Octagon on two occasions!! Carl Cox has played there a few times as well.
For anyone who doesn't know - the Octagon is now a cheese encrusted, chart music pit! That's all I remember it as!
Anyway, back to the point. Nicky Blackmarket - Oh Yes!

@ Taph- Naaaah! Someone's either havin a larf or been smokin way too much skunk!
Pretty sure Grooverider has never played the Octopit!
Well ok, he might have done when that place was still putting on mid-week rave/techno/hardcore night, Chaos - but that was 10 yrs ago!
Don't ever remember seeing him, or Cox as being even down to play that place ... Besides, Cox doesn't count as a DnB dj!
Carl Cox is engaged to my mates' sister!!

Apparently he was double booked, and I spose thats his agents fault and not his, and at least he did show up rather than not, shame it was to an empty room tho. Local guys Killa Kru werent inspiring, Bodyrock and wack mc'ing

Was a good night considering that Nick BM decided to play early. Loads of old tunes were played. By eleven the main room was half full which gave it a good atmosphere. Me, Adam and Simon db enjoyed it anyway, we made the most of it.
I wouldnt say that it was a waste of a fiver, well worth it actually.
Gone4smoke and Kopius seemed to be enjoyed it as well, nice one
@Simon db- you 'Funky chicken'
@ Amos Keato - you boring ........!!!!!!
Rhian x
ps We dont need Nicky BM to have a good time!!!!!

Aye was a bit of a downer that BM turned up @ the venue, and then informed the promoter that he had double booked em - so could he play earlier?
He ended up playing 8-9 to a grand total of 90 people(and we wandered in bout 9:45).
Well actually, there was 90 people in the building - half of them were probably in the techno room too! :(
Personally, I'd have told him to play at the agreed time, or fuck off - cos as far as I see it, this is just another example of a "big-name dj" taking the piss because it's not a 3000 capacity London venue.
So he got to turn up, play for an hour, get paid, and still manage to sod off to another gig.
Yeh - I'd have told him to go fuck himself.
He wouldn't have been paid - cept maybe in knuckles if he pushed it. Cunt :finger:
BUT - The rest of the lineup made the best of it, and played bloody well.
Bumfat - sorry mate, but think you're talking outa your hole. :moon:
They played solid, rolling tunes for the rest of the night, to a steady crowd of about 300/350 people (the main room holds 6 - 700!)
Sure they weren't playing the "dnb top 10", but we found that quite refreshing actually, especially after hearing all the recent biggies played out the previous nite @ the V2 launch night.
The tunes were a good selection of old-skool and "older" tunes - and the crowd was definately enjoying it.
And how many times have we said on the forum; just cos a tune's "old / older" - it doesn't make it any less quality.
So they played "Bodyrock", and it's not everyone's taste after hearing it caned so much in the past -- But I've not heard that played out in a long time; so I quite enjoyed hearing it last night.
As for the MC-ing - well there wasn't an MC on the lineup - it was just one of the DJs that thought he'd plug a mike in an have a go.
So he wasn't SAS standard; so what? He had a go and the crowd wasn't complaining (though I have definately heard better MC-ing! ha ha)
No students around, dnb in the main room, 1000 capacity; and they had 450 through the doors - most of which were in the dnb room.
For N.Wales, I'd call that a success; and even without the cunt BM - it was still definately worth a fiver.
Seems everyone cept Bumfat had a fucking good time
@ D-Tails n Kopius -- big up the N.Wales crew! :slayer:
@ Si dB - Respect for coming up for this one - any time fella ;)
Well I had a rocking time in my parents 30th Anniversary Party!!!
Wooho!! :slayer:
Adam - Triple B was playing with my tunes - did you catch any of him???

@ Taph:
Nah mate -- didn't really spend much time in the techno room.
But if you mean he was playing in the main room with your tunes -- still no idea! ha ha

I enjoyed last night very much (Hi to Adam and Rhian for putting up with me). Yeah I was rather fucked off that Nicky BM was allegedly double booked, but if he was double booked then how did he find the time to travel to North Wales to get there nice and early to drop the bombshell on the promoters, play the first slot and still have enough time to make it back to cosy London for a later gig (allegedly of course).
It's far too easy to slag off local DJs but remember that everyone starts out at the bottom and not everyone is an Andy C or a DJ Craze. You can't listen to local talent and expect fireworks and the latest killa dubplates, it just doesn't happen like that. I positively enjoyed them, it was a pleasant change from hearing the same new tunes we hear so often, heard a few classics mixed in and some tunes that are not fashionable to play as dust may have accrued on them but they're still good tunes.
As for the wack MCs, as Adam said, they didn't have any MCs billed so some local lads probably thought "Why the fuck not, I'll give it a bash." The crowd were having it, I was funky chickening and stumbling around enjoying myself, met more people from the board and had a tasty kebab and chips afterwards. I'll be there for the next one for sure. The local lassies are pretty damn fit as well lads, it was worth a fiver to see some of them shake their booty and some of the crumpet round Bangor City centre, ding ding!!
This isn't a rant or a dig, it's just another persons opinion who saw the night through a different pair of eyes. Props to anyone no matter who they are or how they do it, that get up in front of a crowd and give it their best on the decks or on the mic, they've got the balls to do it so support them for that alone
Peace
Biggin up Adam & Rhian for the comfy bed and Hi to Gone4smoke, nice to meetcha!!!!!
