Right...when i first went to write this thread I nearly put "your favourite three d n b tunes ever", but i thought thats a bit tough...so maybe three tunes that mean alot to you. Maybe they were the tunes that got you into d n b - maybe if you produce it was the first tune you released...

Heres mine:

1. Alien Girl - Ed Rush/Optical - fuck me, when I first heard this I nearly fell over. Still brilliant today (and in my opinion you could never ever over play it...)

2. Share the fall (rider jeep mix) - great use of vocals n dark choppping beats - was the tune i basically learnt to mix with properly...

3. Life - cyba feat shanie (dom n roland rmx) - fuck off drop like i dont think id heard (or appreciated before). I had this on a cd and used to put it on repeat...sad but true.

There are thousand more im sure...but those are three that mean a fair bit to me. Ill follow it up with some more if there are loads of posts ion this.

Congo Natty - Police In Helicopter - there is just something about the lyrics in this track, even tho they can be a little repetitive, if ya listen closely, they have been re-sung each time, not just the same sample played over.. you can hear the passion in the guy's voice just before the breakdown.. fantastic :)

Uncut ft. Future Cut / Jenna G - Midnight (MIST remix) - i've been a dirty jungle/jump up dnb fiend forever, and this track has opened my eyes to the more soulful and funky side. Of which i'm getting into a lot lately :) all the MIST and calibre stuff is wicked, thankyou to them!

DJ SS - Rollidge - This was probably one of the first jungle tracks i ever heard, got me into the whole breakbeat thing, taking it a step past (for me) the likes of prodigy and such. Other tracks that could be equally substituted for this postition are Urban Shakedown - Arsonist, The Lighter, Renegade Terrorist, etc etc.

Anyone remember that Radio Dreamscape CD? it had like 5 or 6 sorta 20 minute sets on it from Darren Jay, Ray Keith, SS, Hype, Kenny Ken and such. That was my first taste of jungle :)

Right then, where do I start..........

First off - probably the first jungle tune I heard was The Chopper. That crazy bassline coupled with that oh so serious helicopter build up got me bouncing about all over the place evrytime...fantastic!

Secondly it has to be Kosheen - Hide U. When this was played the dancefloor always went ballistic and even my friends who aren't into d'n'b were moshing away like madmen!

Lastly and probably most influential to me is BC -The Nine. That tune has been played a million times by everyone inc. myself and is still one of the hardest tunes i've ever heard.....nice!

Mine include, and are not necessarily ones I play over and over but generally marked an 'special occasion' if ya like ...

M-Beat feat General Levy - Incredible.

Cheesy I know. But I remember coming back from the Hacienda one night to some party in Salford and for some reason the telly was on but dead low. Next thing the video for Incredible came on, I turned it up to see what the fuck all those snares were all about and off went Graeme Park. Safe to say my mates weren't impressed and hence started by junglist interest.

Ganja Kru - Super Sharp Shooter

Heard it loads of times (and thought it was fucking splendid) from various mix tapes etc but the looks of peoples faces when Laurent Garnier dropped it in the middle of a storming techno set at Voodoo will never leave my drug-befuddled mind (oh and he played Hypes Remix of Ready or Not straight after !!)

J Majik - The Lizard

Old skool samples at the start and utter utter destruction for the next 6 odd mins. NEVER fails to get me jumpin' around me flat/dancefloor/on the number 60 bus.

With regards to other tracks I love dearly, Bad Company have made about 10 of em ... The Nine being utterly fucking ace ....

re. others choices....asok>i havent got Alien Girl!..must be vinyl only :-( Life is on the new Dom+Roland album, but personally i prefer the man Deval's embellishment on Sol's Sophonic mix! and to Sol>dont confuse people mate! the Mampi Swift tune is "Tripped"

bumfat>

'Trippin' by Mampi Swift was on the flip of Illusions (which is basically the original mix of 'Tripped'), on Resurrection EP (CHRG012).

'Tripped' is the one on Mainframe.

I'm assuming Sol, that you dont mean Trippin, but tell us, is it the original mix or the new one thats your boat-floater? thats Illusions or Tripped respectively? :)

Thats right Mr Poi, the one im taking about is the original mix on the Ressurection EP.

I never actually got around to buying the mainframe ablum - it's all bit too noisey :D

Sol> Yeah Illusions is a phat track :) I bought the Mainframe album but i've since gone off Mampi's stuff quite a lot, Tripped (the remix) is wicked, the intro and the effects he has used to mash up that sample are excellent, but the track goes a bit "damp" and boring when it drops i reckon.. Theres some other good stuff on there tho. But i guess you just gotta like the Mampi style :)

Three tunes that meant alot for me...

1. Alien Girl-I agree with ASOK phat tune and will always be a fav of mine.

2. Die Remix of watching windows-Oh my gosh when I got this I must of listened to it ten times a day (sad I know)

1. Smokin a Blunt - Chuck E (London Records). Mickey Finn used to play this all the time when i first started going to Helter etc.

2. Survival - Moving Fusion (Ram Records).
B-side off 'Atlantis' Moving Fusion, Bad Co. Remix
Everytime I hear that tune it makes me think I'm gonna have a stroke.

3. Burning Deep Remix - Adam F/DJ Harmony (Section 5).
B-side off 'Circles' from '96. My dog gets scared when I play this tune on my decks, that's how dark and bassy it is.

Here are three tunes, that mean a lot to me.

No particular order, just personal favourites.

1)Ding Dong Bass (Remix)- Dj Sappo - Rinse Out

2)Change (Amen mix)- Dj Daze - Armaggeddon

3)Spacefunk 2000 - Digital - Doc Scott Remix - Timeless

These tunes have pure dancefloor energy, can't get bored of them.

I agree with Si, that Spacefunk 2000 is a killer!

I would say...
1) Warhead-Krust (V)... gave me goosebumps everytime i heard it for about 2 years.

2) Secrets-John B (Prototype)... on the massive Prototype compilation mixed by Grooverider, what a drop.

3) Phantom Force-Phantom Audio... erie intro, hard beats, rollin bass.

OK, heres' mine::::

Ram Trilogy>Titan, the only tune that I have always included in a set.

J-Majik>Spaced Invader, its been caned and caned and caned, but I don't care, mega-tension build-up>it never misses!

B.C.>The 9!!>The first time I hear this in some Toxteth house party it did strange things to my mind, possibly the best(and simplest)drop ever.

3 big tunes...

KONFLICT - MESSIAH : oh- my- gosh!! is this the nastiest tune ever written?

DIESEL BOY - INVID : big up to American maestro of the rolling beats, i haven't heard anything else by him - does anyone have info? This is the only tune to finish a set with!

PESHAY - MILES FROM HOME : title track of his funk fuelled album - a classic. :p

1: His imperial majesty (congo natty)

- I think this one is my all time fave, It's just such a powerful track and ALWAYS makes the place erupt wherever you are. Bass is fantastic and topcat's lyrics fuse to create the most incredible track.

2: Aphrodite - Feelings

- Now this isn't necessarily the best of tracks, however it was the first jungle/dnb track I ever heard and to be honest it just blew me away. I haven't heard it now for 7ish years. so I couldn't tell you if I still like it !(Anyone got it on mp3 ?)

3: Ruffige crew - Beachdrifta

-This one does it for me on a production level, absolutely fantastic. you can tell alot of time has gone into that one right there.

1) T-Power / Trace - Mutant Remix
Taking 'dark' jungle to whole new scary levels!

2) Omni Trio - Who are you?
Not everyone thinks this is a classic but this is probably my all time favorite, so couldn't leave it out.

3) Nebula II - Anaethema
When house-y rave was starting to split into different styles. Heard this, loved it, haven't really looked back.

To the Fish.... Dieselboy is meant to be one of the phattest d&b djs around. Hes doen quite alot of stuff on Tech Itch. I got a white ages ago with a tune called "Atlantic State". One of my favourites, i think it got remix treatment quite recently....

I go on a lot of international chat rooms and such, and everyone seems to rank dieselboy very highly, i cant say i've heard a lot of his stuff myself, but you can check his mixes on his website last time i was there.. at a guess it's <a href="http://www.dieselboy.com" target="_blank">www.dieselboy.com</a> :)
