thanks to all the crew representing on friday. sorry i couldnt chat long to many of you but i was running round sorting stuff out. Sorry for Krust being late, Andy being late, Moving fusion instead of Ed Rush (really sorry about that, Ed has flu!), and MC Flux instead of GQ! Shit happens and sometimes its out of our control.
All i can say though is that For a Ram Records tour nite, their main DJ was WELL late and none of their reps were even down early (wot does that say?)!
But it was all good. Security tight, no probs, lots of sensi, wicked MCs and an even better crowd! peace- see y'all at sophonic.

wasnt there, but its a bit naughty to not send up any of their boys early.....
i heard ed rush bunked it cos optical was getting married the day after....all the virus crew cancelled their gigs this weekend apparently
ah well, sounds like it was still a good night....
Did Moving Fusion Play ??
I dont think I seen 'em.
When I got there it was like this . . .
Mark Xtc
Krust
Andy C
Shimmon
Red one
Mark & Sappo
Did I miss an hour or something ?
BTW - Easy on the bass next time - It drowned out everything ;)
Yeah i had an excellent night, although i find that in venues that big, you just dont capture the intimacy and unification of the crowd, as is possible in some of the smaller venues. Thats just my personal preference tho, i dig the big venues too (The Academy reminds me of Bowlers somewhat).
The DJ's, the production, lighting etc was all superb, but for some reason the crowd seemed a little quiet, they just werent going mental like i'm used to seeing up here in dnb clubs in Mancs.. Comparing to the last Stepback too at the Academy this was true, but i dont think that was anything that could have been affected by the organisation of the night, it was top notch.
I got there right at the start while the arena was almost completely empty, and does anyone agree that there need to be speaker stacks at the back of the room too? The echo, if you stand infront of the decks, is pretty bad, and i can imagine it being a bit of a nightmare for mixing.. The sound however was excellent, loud as hell (my ears were ringing all the next day!), very bassy, although i can imagine it being too much bass for some people's liking!
Overall everyone seemed very friendly in there, did see a little bit of hassle but what clubs are without it..
I hope this post doesnt seem negative, i had a fscking wicked night, i'm just trying to provide some constructive feedback :)
And for anyone who i bumped into, (Sol, Si, Tim, Robin plenty more too) i can only apologise for the absolute trashed-ness of myself! I was sooo pissed by the end, just at the limit of being able to walk around and talk. I had me some immense fun handing out flyers at the end in that state, i hope i didnt annoy anyone too much, i think i was quite persistant with some of those "i dont want yer flyer" types :p
Lookin forward to the next one!

ok i really wanted to see the ram records crew, and i enjoyed myself and im glad i went, but,i thought the sound was a mess, people were chucking things around and i got hit on the head twice, the fire door got stormed and that was quite unnerving,so security was only tight at the front door! it was the least friendly night i've bin to...and i never saw moving fusion either!!

I agree with bumfat bout the unfriendliness. It was so big that it was impersonal and the atmoshere was stunted. However, andy c was really good, he's so quick to flip the tunes. Krust seemed to play for hours but he was also really good. The sound system wasnt quite right, but fair enough, it was fuckin massive! And there was a lot of beef gwanin.
But i enjoyed myself, it was my birthday celebration so i had a fuckin wicked time, im glad i went. It was an experience to go out in manchester for a change. Them police men with machine guns are well mad!
Well done to all those involved in setting up such a big event, must have been massively stressful, pulled off with a great deal of grace.
