PAPER CUTS comes in on the back of a series of bleepy and distorted synth loops and a steady rocksteady beat, building up to what will no doubt become a familiar hands in the air moment. Dirty beats, with Justine's telltale laidback punky drawl. The verse riff comes in with shades of tear out whilst remaining rocksteady motored on by punchy beats and that distorted riff. “I like the way you work it baby” indded Justine, we concurr! The Hooligans have hit on another fantastic hook laden, crossover monster that will work in so many DJ scenarios.

It's sister track WEED is a slow builder, downtempo with edgy indie overtones, what one would expect from Pavement (or Guided By voices electronic moments) to have come out with. The main body kicks into electronic mode with a midtempo groover that sounds like a collboration between LCD soundsystem, the Chemical Brothers and DJ Shadow; beats and riffs that climb over each other in a fat distorted groove topped off with plenty of hooks, organic drums and swirling synths.

It looks like the follow up to 'You are here' is going to change the boundaries again for breakbeat acts, and their inflammatory live show will take this amalgamation of sounds to new arenas, stretching the skins of the breakbeat bubble once more. Marvellous!
