HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone got any idea how to produce really heavy basslines using reason 2.0?????

I have so far waisted hours of my life in a vain attempt to create such a sound with very little success. As i have no keyboard i am using the matrix pattern sequencer to make the notes and i am using this in conjunction with either the subtractor analogue synthe or the malstrom graintable synthe. I also have various plug -ins and effects units to distort my sounds.

Any suggestions welcome.

Peace out. SIRCH :schmoke:

dont bother with the matrix. use the standard sine/triangle.... actually, figure it out for yourself!

use the key editor instead of the matrix, much easier

you can get some huge sub bass with the NN19 filter

basically, the way to do it in reason is to start simple (with a single oscillator) and just keep layering and layering. and while your layering keep tweaking bits and bobs to see what changes it makes. then when you've made a fat noise, export a 1 second wav of it (like a single note) into sound forge and mess with it again!

get used to using the Attack Sustain Decay and Release funtions.
on the amp filter and modulation bit. this will help you to learn to sculpt the sounds you want to hear. find a preset that's nearly like the sound you want, and tweak bits of it.

if you havent, go in the manual, and learn what each knob does on the synths. for subby sounds the subtractor does the job.

tweak the filter frequency and resonance, this can have it's own envelope as well. Also , when you hear a big bad bass it's probably lots or a few layers filling all the frequencies that we can hear.. dont try to just make a massive sub (like me who just fried one of his Tannoys).

have a sub you can feel underneath you other slightly higher frequency bass sounds.

or just sample the bastard sound from a tune and modify it slightly.

If you've got the Refills then get the NN19 on the go and open the Jungle Frenzy section where there's 'Soft Bass' which I use to construct a firing sub B-line.

Yeah, and that Maelstrom can be pretty nasty if mess with the filters right.

BASS!!!
