Is the Surreal night at the Masque really kickin' off then ? The only nights I've been to at the Masque have been Voodoo and Chibuku ... sometimes if there's not that many people, the atmosphere can get a bit diluted ...

Great to see more Drum n Bass nights in Liverpool though, though I've just heard that X is moving to Cream ???? Why Cream ????

Is it such a bad thing its going to cream?
Its actually not going to cream to be fair...its going to nation - the club that hosts the night cream. Nice big venue, a move up in the world, and a realisation that d n b can once again command respect in both large and small venues.

I think any move towards bigger nights (as long as the small nights stay around as well) is a good thing as its helps get the sound out to peeps who otherwise might not hear it.

With regards to Cream, maybe it's just personal preference then. I (and many others I know) hate the place. It's far too big to get any real atmosphere, for e.g if you ever used to go to Bugged Out when it was at Sankeys, you'd definitely be able to tell the difference in atmosphere these days now it's at Cream. Plus the amount of muppets you get in there co's its 'Cream'.

Cream is also expensive, but again there is a great soundsystem in there so you don't mind paying a little extra for that.

But for me mainly, it's the on-top security that kill the vibe. Now I know, as it's a major 'superclub' the police are all over them like a dirty shirt and they have their license to think about. But what's all the second-searches all about? You face a more intense search than the Hac used to be, which is fine, but I've had friends who've been minding their own, dancing away and the bouncers have pulled 'em to search them again on the fucking dancefloor. Its just paranoia all the way ! If you go to the toilet, you're risking it too.

Last time I was in there (for Laurent Garnier), I saw loads of people geting hassled when they were causing no problem for anyone at all ...

Cream - not good ! :(

It's not going to be in the whole of nation it's only the Annex.

But ure right there is no vibe in places like that. It's all too sterile :(

As far as I know there will be no where to sit off and have moke like in Le Bateau.

Le Bats is good for that cos of all the dark corners and stuff, plus the security aren't in ya face that much. Out of nearly 10 years of ravin'/clubbing I've spent more times in there than anywhere else !!

Any idea's on what's gonna take it's place ? Cos Voodoo is finishing permanently (again !) so there's gonna be a few Friday's free ....

I have been to cream loads of times and although i dont think its great cos ive never been into the music too much apart from bugged out, i have never seen any trouble in there...have never had any shit from bouncers...dont give a fuck if undercover police are in there because they cant arrest me for enjoying myself (and ive never noticed them anyway), and always thought its had a decent atmosphere - especially the packed and massive bugged out nights. Now im not being biased towards it, i hold a candle for noone and love the atmosphere in small venues...but with X being in the annex i reckon it will be cool. Just wait and see. I agree the prices are far too high for beer though...

I've been onto them to try and sort out a new venue for Element but they say they are fully booked. BTW voodoo is going back there and starting a fresh. They should never have left ;)

Alright guys, i think moving to nation is a good idea. The annex is a good size, nice and dark, the sound system is phat and the main bar, and i think the zoo bar will be open for chillin. Also its good for the nw movement cos more drum and bass interest will be created as you may get people going just because its at nation then realising that drum and bass is the music for the 21st century!!!

Sol, I don't understand, is Voodoo not finishing then ? And I agree, Voodoo's best times were back in Le Bats the first time around in 95, they'll never recreate an atmosphere like that.
They definitely should not have moved.

I think Xample has his head screwed on (ha)... The annexe is probably smaller than Le Bateau anyway meaning it will be just as packed and intimate with a good atmosphere etc.. Anyway its opening drum and bass up to a whole new audience who probably would not go if it was at Le Bateau. Has anyone seen Le Bateau in the day light.... nasty mancy shite all over the walls etc..
Anyway, we will wait and see...
