How many records get sold on an average dnb release?
What am trying to find out is i am produceing dnb in my bedroom but my production engineering skills are a bit weak so i was thinking of going to a pro studio in manc to produce mix and master two of my best tunes. But to hire a studio for two days is gonna cost me the best part of £300.Iffffff i got a tune signed to a resonable label would i earn enouth to cover my initial outlay.
Can anyone shed some light on record sales cos i havent got a clue!!
are you any good?
Are your tunes any good?
If they are...in some ways (and stop me if im wrong on this), a label will snap them up regardless of the best ever production.
If your shit (and im by no means saying that you are), then you wont get a cat in hells chance.
Sol & xample have created all there tunes on home studio (admitted with some good kit), and they get released cos they are quality. I know that Beta 2 & Zero Tolerance (two of my favourites) make alot of there stuff on reason...or at least used to...
Sure production makes a difference - but not if the ideas arent there in the first place.
Think of it like: im a shit footballer. Absolutely terrible i am. Put me in the best most expertly designed boots in thw world, sit me in a team of good footballers, with sweat free stretch nasa designed material shirt & shorts...and im still fucking rubbish.
Put a scruffy brazilian child who only plays on the beach and wears a coke can on a football pitch, and hes probably amazing.
ya dig?
what stu said :agree:
if you can shift 1000 units then its a v. good start.

If you have a few goos tunes, stick 3 or 4 on a CD and send em to the record labels
If they are any good, they will get back to you and then stick you in thier studio for free so you can master your tunes properley
they wouldn't expect a CD from an amateur (no offence) producer to be mastered well anyway, as lomg as it sounds decent they will be interested enough to master it for release.
