hey guys n gals,
it's origionally by a recently signed Indie band called Cassidy (i work with their drummer) twas their idea for a remix. So i did it. i personally am not happy with the final outcome, so i thought i'd post it here for some opinions/ideas to help me finish the bastard.

It's not too bad actually. I haven't heard the original but the way you work the guitar is very very good. The drums need a bit of beefing up, a bit of variation in snare/tom-tom would spice up the tune - i.e. a few well placed drum rolls or different pitches of snare to break up the monotony of the short-looped drum pattern. the percussion is good (which is always worth a Blue Peter Badge with me) with plenty of variation in the patterns and instruments. On the whole it's a good tune but needs a bit more structural direction in its aims and purposes (without sounding too contrite) as it doesn't really have the build up towards drops (and the ensuing dancefloor buz) that imo is necessary for the majority of dance music and over he course gets a bit repetitive. The only other constructive criticism I can make is that you add a few more layers to the tune to add some depth and maturity to the song that'll really make it stand out from the crowd..and when I mean layers it can be either more drums or percussions or strings or other instruments (from the original tune) etc etc, it's up to you.
One last thing, if you're thinking "what a prick he is talking like this about my tune", ask yourself this...Would you rather have honest opinion and constructive criticism, or crawly bum-lick "I don't want to offend anyone so your tune rules"
Peace

clean ya pm box chief!
gonna write this review as i listen for maximum usability...
liking the filter work on the intro and the pan.
break is fat
nice build too
not sure about the drop at 1.27, the bassline seems to be a bit flat in terms of the key.
I think you might be better keeping the guitar going after the drop and then take it out after a couple of bars, then bring it back for a second drop
really like the guitar cut in at 1.49 and the break building toward the end of that bar
liking the little false drop around 3 minutes, again building up to the real thing around 3.40
i do think it would be better if the guitar parts stayed after each drop though, maybe cut them up a bit to have some variety when it drops.
another wicked cut at 4.20ish
good drop out at 5.05, like the way it builds up to it too
that bongo style break is really nice, maybe use that after the first drop too although that would take some of the progression away
overall I'd be well pleased with this!
If there is anything to do i would say add more of the guitar straight after each drop and maybe put a morse sparse drop out somewhere in the middle, maybe take it right back to the opening guitar and nothing else
and could you use more of that guitar sound that comes in right as the tune ends
overall it's very good this mate, they should be more than happy with it

that's the whole idea of the review ring.
Excelent - best thing you've ever done.
The arrangement is fine, the break at 1:27 is fine.
Although I will agree with Woody that the bassline is out of key.
Sort that out and Bob's your Dad's brother.

fat beats Frisk, liking the build up to. Like the bassline, I don't reckon it's that out at all. Structurally I think it's working pretty well, like the breakdown where the bongo action kicks then building back into the main hook. I reckon some xtra effects work on the guitar at different stages in the sequence may be beneficial just to give it a bit more life helping it lose its regularity. It sounds fine at the beginning but I reckon you should progress it elsewhere in the mix.
Overall, I reckon you should be pretty fuckin pleased.
Nice work.

nice 1 guys. you hit the nail on the head with the bass sounding flat. i couldn't quite put my finger on it before.
Lee, If you think this is my best.... just you wait. i have a few surprises up my sleeve. this is my least favourite of all my new tracks.

Very well produced tune.
I really like the drop with its bouncy bassline kicking in!
Wicked stuff and i really like the little guitar riff.
I really aint much of a tech head, so i'll finish by saying.
its really good!

This tune is good, builds nicely, beats are tidy. Overall a good groove and well produced.
Things to bear in mind.
It would be interesting to have heard the original track.
The guitar sample sounds a little dry. Prehaps run it through a little reverb.
There is little edit at 1.47, try a filter or a little delay to emphasise your edit.
Filter the guitar riff with either HP or LP every 16 0r 32 bars to add variation as the tune progresses.
Also consider some atmospheric wind up noises to add a little more anticipation for the drop at 1.27.
Try to get your guitarist mate to play you a lead riff to fill the build before the drop and the breakdown.
All in all, not too shabby.
I'll be in the Cali on Thursday, i want a cd of your latest materials please. :funkymonk
