As a few of you probably know, we hosted Fuse in the Zanzibar last week involving Homegrown, Jiggery Pokery and ourselves Contrast.
It was as packed out upstairs and downstairs. 300 people +, (more than the average No Fakin....)
Downstairs, First up were Noah & G Kut serving up their usual blend of Funk and Hip Hop with added turntablist tricks. Then the Shakti came on with a dose of live ganja inspired hip hop much to the crowds delight, great performance. DNA came on after to play a moodier style of downbeat and hip hop, once again eclectic beats for those who know. After this, the DnB started, Drive By played a chilled, vocal inspired set including tunes from artists such as Marcus Intallex etc, as well as some exclusive dubs on their up and coming label, Drive By Records..Fabio has been canning these recently. Next up Xample and Bane.....well nuf said. 3 Decks etc, watch this space. Look out for them coming up at X @ Nation soon...
Meanwhile..... Upstairs was going off all night, rammed. Dj's Paul Main, Fresh Brew, Lil Sandy, Rasp and of course Dizraeli. The open mic upstairs was an A-Z of the local Liverpool MC's.
We should be doing another one soonish. Ill keep you posted.
Big Up to the whole North West movement, taking off...........
Jim. (BANE - CONTRAST, X)
PS. Anyone interested in a CONTRAST mix CD, Xample & Bane, 3 deck mash-up, 74 minute mayhem. Send email to contrast_@hotmail.com
