Does anyone have any good advice or websites that give info on good vocal EQing and reverb? Also anyone a whizz at the best mics for vocals and for live playing aswell?

for live go with the sm58. but for proper recording it depends what sound your after and it aint gonna be cheap.

Buy a copy of sound on sound, it has some fantastic articles in it and shuold give you a good idea of what you need mic-wise.

And be warned, it has to be THE most addictive read your ever likely to find!

For a good studio sound you really need a capacitor mic - a little more sensative than a dynamic (like an SM58). A capacitor mic needs phantom power, but any small mixing desk or pre-amp can provide this. Have a look at the Rode NT1 for a good, cheap example ;)

Condenser Mic definitely for quality vocal recording but they are sensitive, so dont swing it round your ead and dont drop it or youll fuk it up

sm58 is a bit more rugged so is more suited to live stuff, although it will do the job

but you can get good condensers for under a ton nowadays

also have a look at any focusrite channel strips if you can afford one - it'll give you all the processing you need on one strip - eq, reverb, compression, and a good quality pre-amp
