MIDI interface?

What MIDI interface are people using.

Any pro's n cons?

my midi is connected via the panel on my soundblaster live drive
the latency aint very good but can be sorted out to make the most of it

All depends on what you want to do.

If your just triggering synths and the like, stick to whatever..... midiman do a good range of budget midi 'tings.

IMO tho, if you use samplers and the like for drums or complex midi messages, you really have to look at the top end stuff cos nothing is tighter. I use logic, and therefore got an AMT 8.... costs a bloody fortune, but if you want to be serious about what you do ;)

For SX, Steinberg do a dedicated MIDI box on much the same lines as the AMT.

I've got a Midi man USB 2x2, supports up to 32 midi channels in one mini box.

All for about £40.

Yeah i've got an Access Virus kB & an EMU E5000 Ultra.

Although it's all about the MOTU 828mk2 these days. But I dont want to start a MIDI / AUDIO debate again !!! :D

Yeah I got it about 2 weeks ago, 10 out to the desk of audio, great for breaks plus im using Kontakt sampler more now for triggering fx etc.

I only use the EMU when I run out of channels on the MOTU !

And the Virus is just an expensive controller keyboard !

Yeah deffo mate. Leads would be no probs, got loads of em. Not sure about gettin one 2nd hand or what, aint decided yet.

Gonna have a word with my mate at Studiocare in Liverpool too, see if they could do us a deal on one. They're usually good for stuff like that.

£550 is a very good price though (best Ive seen) compared to somewhere like Dawsons who want £749.99!
