what I am looking for is a group of say 15+ people who will take a bit of time and regularly review each others tracks to quite an in depth level, and won't just review once in a while and then expect everyone to review theirs. hopefully we won't have any timewasters.
Each producer will upload 1 track for review, per week. everyone else in the circle will rate it and give advise as how to improve their track and vice versa. finished tracks only please, there's no point in putting just a loop up there, as there will not be much to assess. Try to go in depth and not just give: that's good or I don't like that. Try to say why you don't like it, and how it could be improved.
scoring.
I have thought about it and have come up with the following pointers as a guideline for things to mark on (again I'm open to more ideas, so if you got 'em let me know)
duration/structure:
How interesting is the track ? is it constantly moving, keeping us interested ? or is it just too repetative, how could this be improved ? *remember, tracks can be repetative and still keep you there with it without it getting tedious.
use of fx:
Is there good use of effects if at all ? are there areas in the track where you would have used fx where whoever has made the track hasn't ?
musical:
I know it doesn't apply to a fair bit of DnB, but there are tracks out there which are musically fantastic. So try to see how musical each review is and how well each instrument gels with the rest . you may find that some are well musical but the instruments just clash with each other.
mixing:
How well the track was mixed down, were all of the levels right, or did some of the sounds just take over and drown out the rest of the track.
Overall:
did you like the track ? if not why ? how would you improve it. this should be more of a general review of the track, it's also a good place to say whether you thing people are improving or getting worse with advise.
I'd like this to be a serious part of the site, because I will be listening to and possibly acting on your advice as I hope you will mine.So no timewasters please. if you think this sounds good just post a reply so I have an Idea of numbers and see whether it's worth doing. If it turns out there are, I'll compile a list of members names to the 'review list' and we'll get started. be warned tho, if you put your name forward and end up being a timewaster and not really trating this section seriously your posts will be deleted and you will be removed from the list. as I said earlier, I'd like this 'track review section' to be as serious as possible to ensure people get some constructive help and advice.
if you are up for it post below and we'll get started.
