 howdy y'all! Can any of you production boffins out there help me on this one?i downloaded a load of sample files off da net, and they came up as .ram (real player) files. Real player files are gay and wont let me open them up in soundforge to convert them. Q. Is there any way of converting these gay .ram files into nice .wav/.mp3 media files?
Theres a free can of half eaten cat food for anyone who comes up with the answer!!! p.s. Hello senoir impact for joing as a member on this beautiful site. deval:deval:

so they stream through realplayer when you double click em yeah?

in that case, you can d/load a free program that streams them instead of realplayer. it records the file on the fly and saves it as a .wav.

ill try and find a url for ya matey...stay tuned

(otherwise i think you can get a plugin or something for soundforge?)

I'd recomend not using real media file as samples.

They are not very good quality - try and file mp3's or zipped wav's.

frisky has posted links to a load of sample site in the produtions section.

another way of 'aquiring' these files is with a program called StreamBox!VCR this is wicked, instead of streaming the file so you can't nab it, it tells the site you are streaming, then nabs it ! give it a go.

not to worry woody, it's a bit of a bastard at first, once you have done one or two, it's a piece of piss. here's what to do:

first of all you have to find out where exactly the file is streamed from on the site. the best way to find this is to right click on the webpage you are streaming from and select 'view source' if you search through here 'quickest using the search option and using keywords' (eg junobass)and you will find the part of the site where it's streamed from. it WON'T have the full address, you'll have to add the site name at the beginning (eg http://bityoufoundlookingatthesourcefile) select the text you want and copy it to your clipboard (select then right click and choose copy)

then you go to the 'edit' tab at the top of the program, choose 'paste url' and the details will automatically fill themselves out. all you do now is enter the name of the site you are 'streaming' from then press download.

enjoy.:toke:
