Liquidrum presents a tour ‘club night’ for BBC Radio 1Xtra showcasing the presenters of the two
Drum & Bass shows on the station, L Double & Bailey. Radio 1Xtra aims to promote cutting
edge ‘street music’ of black origin. 1Xtra is a new Digital Radio station broadcasting all sound
and music in the finest audio quality, revolutionizing the future of Radio. L Double & Bailey have
been chosen to represent Drum & Bass in the form of two weekly shows – L Double, Tuesday
7.00pm – 10.00pm and Bailey, Sunday 11.00pm – 1.00am. The shows’ content will showcase
new Drum & Bass from an increasingly growing global scene and will also aim to push and
nurture new talent from all territories.
L Double has played a major part in pioneering the Drum & Bass sound. His own record label
Flex is responsible for many classic tracks such as ‘what you gonna do’. This was a release by
Da Intalex, consisting of himself, and Manchester's very own Marcus Intalex and Mark XTC who
have now became leading figures within the scene. L Double has also continued to stay at the
forefront of the scene signing new talent through his label such as Phobia & Piper.
Phobia and Piper are responsible for the biggest Drum & Bass night in the Newcastle area,
Turbulence. They have recently launched a new record label entitled Decibel Recordings acting
as a platform for their own music as well as local producers.
The Liquidrum collective have been DJing on the local scene in both recent and past times. Club
nights such as Beatific, Soulfood and Radio Station fresh FM 100.7 have played host to the roster
of DJ’s. Liquidrum have been responsible for club nights in Manchester and North Wales, Former
guests include John B (Beta recordings, Metalheadz), and Calibre (Soul;r, Creative Source). The
collective seek to push and showcase Drum & Bass from a diverse perspective spanning all
Interpretations of the genre. Future dates will include originators Ratty & Tango and the mighty
sound of Digital.
