How come when i export a loop as audio in Reason1 at 170bpm
when i open it in cubase set at 170 bpm the sample still needs timestreching to fit the arrangment in cubase
i havnt got a clue can any 1 shed some light on this.

timestretching by a lot or just a bit?
the chances of it being the same bpm in two different programs is slim to be honest, each program will calculate the bpm in its own way so there's no chance it will be exact.

i don't know about this one, i'll consult my colleagues. i'm a fruityloops user myself, and haven't got into cubase yet. Oi Sol, shed some light man.

Any ideas Sol?
I've not used reason before but try this . . . .
Export the loop from recycle as a REX file not a wav.
Import it into cubase . . .
On the other hand i've heard that Cubase SX will do all types of time stretching for you automatically. No need for recycle etc.

i think it depends on what version of cubase you have...

I recon your problem is the sample rate.
Make sure you export your loop from reason at the same bit rate that cubase is playing at. It might be that.
The BPM should be exactly the same no matter how shit the program is. :ninja:

I use reason for creating riffs and drum loops and then export as audio files, bringing them into nuendo for treatment. I've never experienced any BPM problems such as this.
Why don't ya just write your breaks in cubase instead?

Have considered tightening up your loops, does the loop need to be 170bpm, is there room for adjustment?
All seems a bit complex?

i got hold of reason last night. it looks fantastic - i love the way it the whole rack turns round when you press tab, and you can change the wires in the back of it all. it just looks boss - even if it does look ultra-confusing ! anyone have any useful tips ?

REDRUM - turn it round and and link each channel seperately to the mixer, this way you have more control over your individual drums (link each channel seperately to compressor/limiter and EQ units)
I also find that putting a compressor/limiter and EQ units between the mixer and the Reason Interface improves the overall sound, cause usually it tends to sound a little flat.
For basslines - NN19 or Subtractor - add some res about 30% it should beef it up a bit.
Apart from that just mess around and see wot happens.
