Me and a few mates have got plans for starting up a reggae night in liverpool, but from experience over the last couple of years, other attempts @ a reggae only night never really seem to have got off the ground – we’re really keen, but not sure if there’s really the crowd to support it.

My question is, are people off the board reggae fans who would consider going to a night like this, and if so would you be more likely to go if it was mainly:

Heavyweight Dub

Roots/Rockers

Livelier, more jump up dancehall/digital dancehall

Full on bashment/ragga with mc’s etc

None of the above

Or would a melting pot of styles/era’s be more likely to get people through the door.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated……just trying to get a feel for whether there is a sizable crowd in liverpool , cause we don’t wanna risk booking anyone if its gonna fall flat.

Anyway, as I say – any feedback greatly appreciated. cheers.

I've quite enjoyed the odd reggae/dub stuff that's gone off upstairs in the Zanzibar on Sophonics; but mainly just as a bit of a break n chill out from the main room.
Think I'd be interested enough to wander along to a reggae thing as a pre(DnB)-club kinda thing ... But otherwise, it doesn't flip my switch ... But that's just me...

once upon a time I would be there for heavyweight dub, the early Jamaican stuff not the modern digital pooey variety, but its gotta be dnb for me now. :slayer:
